I finally said the hell with it and fabricated a bracket extension for my alternator. Appears to be solid and holding well. Tensioned the belt, ran it for a few min and retensioned. Had a bit of a scare with the belt. The pulley was a bit rusty on the compressor from sitting for a year, and there was a little on the alt pulley. This caused some good rubbing on the sides of the belt for the first min or too resulting in a hot smell and some rubber soot around the pulleys. Appears to have stopped though.
When I went to reconnect the alt wires I ran into a problem. I have:
1 thick red wire
2 thin wires with female spade connectors.
Got the red figured out, it went to the B+
I remember the thin bluewire went to W. I know it is the correct thin wire because I had to change that female spade connector last year.
That leaves me with one female spade connector and no corresponding male connector. It is green with a black stripe.
The only open connector is the D+, which is a post.
I made a guess this must be the location. I did not have the correct end fitting to swap onto the wire, so I just opened up the female end and drilled the approprite sized hole in it.
Nothing has blown up yet, but my battery light is still on. Even after increasing the rpms to about 3/4 throttle.
Tried looking in the Bentley, but it had a bull*** line about "installation is reverse of....."
Anyone know the correct hookup?
