Power additions to a later model IDI 1.9ltr help.
« on: January 27, 2008, 09:09:02 am »
New guy on the board.  Im replacing the Toyota 2L in my LWB Samurai with a 1.9 IDI engine.  Im looking for make more power.  Ive got a 2001 Jetta TDI that Ive worked on, but I dont have any knowledge of the IDI engines.  Can anyone here help with power additions (ideas or shops) to a later model IDI 1.9ltr?

Here's the truck the motor is going into.

Thanks.

Timing around 1-1.05mm, intercooler, EGT!, turn up boost and fuel, external oil cooler, as big a radiator as you can fit and as high CFM fan as you can fit.
Stock, it will probably be set for 8-9 PSI. Oh, as big an exhaust as you can fit. Nice truck!
I'd loose the K&N though as they let in more crud than a good paper filter, unless you live in a place without much dust.
