What do you think that you've done to the pump other than install it to cause any damage??

I haveent done any tihng to the pump yet. I have no idea what would cause it to feel like it has no throttle.

It really really is sounding like you got a bum pump from eBay... or have you swapped back to the old pump ??

Lack of throttle can be a couple of things internally... most likely a disconnected/broken governor spring assembly.

I will be installing the old pump tomorrow and I will let you know what happens.

OK I resealed the old pump and reinstalled it. It is running but now I have alot of unburned fuel on start up and I have to crank a good 20 sec to get it started. It will intermittenly fire then die then it will start after 4-5 times of this. then it will idle hard until it warms up. It also runs hotter now. I advanced the timing to 1mm could this have anything to do with the hard start? I am going to turn the timing back to see if that helps. I was wondering if maby injectors might clogged from something when I had it open. is there a way of checking them?

advancing the timing should help with a cold start. it allows the diesel more time to burn, but too advanced, and you could burn up some internal components such as the piston tops (because the burning diesel lingers in there)

fuel filter is about 1 1/2 yrs old. The diesel is in a suzuki samurai and I dont have a cold start hooked up, which direction should the lever be up or down? I insatlled new glow plugs.

After it is started and warm it idles fine and I drove it about 30 miles stopped a couple of times. the longest stop was about 4hrs and it stillstarted hard so I dont think there is any air in the lines.

OK I had the cold start away from the sproket while I did the timing. I will correct that and let you know. I dont have a clear tube feeding the pump but I will put one tomorrow. Thankyou for all of your help.

It seems that the cold start was the problem but I wont know until tomorrow for sure. Thank you all for all of your excellent help!!
