This car was one of my buddies, He bought it 4 years ago in Denver and drove it back to eastern Idaho at 70-75 MPH, he got 48 MPG. He drove it for a couple years commuting over the steep ass long pass close by here. He had the timing belt swapped at a shop that has done some hit and miss work on VW diesels over the years, well, he was driving it home and it either blew a head gasket of melted a hole in a piston, this was driving up the 3 miles of %10 grade, he said he typically cruised up it at 45 MPH, pedal on the floor the whole time, but it had done that for 2 years prior to the Tbelt change, I think maybe they didn't get the timing right so it was running hotter then normal, retarded timing.
At any rate it was a "I just want it out of my yard." Scenario, now its in my yard

The car has 140k on it and is in really good shape, a little dent in the passenger side front quarter panel, but all and all, no rust, and a very clean interior. Its an 84, and came with new snow tires on separate wheels and some "ski racks". And a decent CD palyer.
Pics, turbo diesel quantum, not a wagon, but still rad.

It'll be a bit before I really have time to get this going, maybe as late as this winter, but I'm building a garage now so I'll have a war m place to work on it :-D
