Giles Pump geting sideways
« on: October 05, 2013, 06:30:03 pm »
Installed a Giles pump on my 1.9 AAZ Caddy and the first tank I peeled off the remaining rubber on my front wheels as they were a little out-of-round and I was ready for a new set of Goodyears.  Installed new Goodyears , and I have really been using throttle discipline and my mileage is good, and well as you can imagine, the power is awesome.
So there I was, on a 2 lane road in a 55mph speed limit when I pulled up behind a car driven by a young white guy, doing 32mph.  No clue why.  But there was smoke in the car, and his eyes were drooping.  Patiently I followed, and followed, and there was a guy behind me, who crawled right on my bumper, as if that would do some good.  Finally, the lines went from double to now you can pass, but the distance to pass was short, so I dropped to 3d and press down, and when the boost hit a 3psi, it popped immediately to max 10.5psi where I have the turbo set for now, and with my left signal on, I commeced passing, and the RPMs screamed.  After I hit 4th and right turn signal, my wife said, now what was that?  Oh when I was right at his rear bumper passing?  Yeah, she said, that felt squirrelly.  That was the feel, I said, of new Goodyears spinning.
Snap, who'dah thunk that a little diesel would do that.
Well, for one, not the guy who was riding my bumper.

I have gained throttle discipline.  Drives normal, even when raining with the 'correct' right-foot-discipline.
Should have waited till Christmas to buy and install the Giles pump.  Such fun to drive.

Me also. My AAZ/Giles combo occasionally sees 25psi and it just ruins tires and axles.....and I love it !

I know already I could not hold mine down with 25 PSI boost. :P
