1.6TD rebuild questions
« on: December 20, 2012, 08:13:35 pm »
so i keep reading about the oil/vacuum pump bushing can fall out in the hot tank. i didnt notice it before and dont know if it has fallen out, what does it look like and where is it?

also, when measuring the piston protrusion if i am doing it right i am getting .025" on all cylinders.  the spec in the Bentley book shows .026"-.030" for number one notch head gasket.  does my measurement of .025" sound right?

and i am thinking of using a stock head gasket with arp studs i reckon ill be ok with that just keep an eye on the gauges.
any pointers will be helpful

Or skim the deck 0.001+ for an awesome sealing surface.

if using a stock gasket, then stock TTY bolts are MORE than enough..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

If you have a hydro block then shave off more so you're in the range of the 2 or 3 notch AAZ gasket.
