i use stainless nuts. not shims. its easy that way, just take a small nut that slips over the shaft, and use that. usually you want like 3-4mm of shims, IIRC

Thread size and outer dimension would be helpful, then the OP could get what he or she needs before disassembling his or her pump.I would be interested as well. Either would be a hassle; taking my pump apart twice, or trying to get stainless hardware w/o my car being drivable.
