Plastic Ring Under LDA Diaphragm
« on: February 02, 2009, 01:30:29 am »
I noticed this plastic ring on the LDA Diaphragm pin. It seems like it is there to prevent the boost pin from going to low.

Taking it out would probably let the pin push lower thus producing more fuel at high boost. Correct?

Pic of ring:

I think someone a while ago said that its there as kind of a bump stop, as to keep the pin from bottoming out hard when boost builds.
I've heard that you can shave down the plastic and still have a pad of some sorts and still get more boost.

Ah thanks for the input Andrew. I did this when I pulled it out by looking at the little groove that the pin has made on the boost pin. Looked alright.

I removed mine and it isnt bottoming out.I can see the path in the grease i applied. It still stops about 6mm from the top.I think maybe the foot of the pin needs ground to.

The concern is EGTs (exhaust gas temperatures).  Before making adjustments to fueling an EGT gauge is required to effectively prevent engine destruction.

Andrew

Haha, Destruction. You put that nicely.
