I have a garret gt15 on my 1.6 which is very similar in size.  I max mine out at 15 psi (which feels like the sweet spot).  I can push it more but any more boost after that doesn't feel like its doing anything.  Just moves hot air.......  Do you have an EGT?
Thats not a rod knockin..........its a diesel!

alittle leary on touchig it after spending 1000.00 to rebuilt!

the K03 is ok to about 15 psi ( it can do more but... ) it is a weakly designed turbo, any more and it will eventually die.

as for safe boost in a AZZ engine with a metal head gasket safe would be max of 20 or so psi. but at that pressure you will need an intercooler to cool down air to make a difference.

EGT here in Canada can be had at pro shops for about 170$

1000 bucks for rebild is cheap!  :D  just top end or you do it yourself  :?:
my full rebuild cost 2500$ with all new head bolts, seals, metal HG, crank bearrings, rings, oil pump and MK2 oil pan ( .5 liters more oil )

no i was 1000 for just the injection pump! it was another 2400 for the motor! needed new pistons as they where so oversized ppl didnt sell the rings for them you had to buy them as a set 220 / piston :(
so total bill was 3400! WOW i wish 1000!

i gots a 1.6L TD manifold and it has a KKK24 on it i am thinkin about doing the swap as this turbo is pretty dinky!!

the only thing that i am worried about is i dont wanna mess with the fuel to much and wish ppl could give me some insite if i can just bolt it on and away i go, as its a bigger turbo so more air!!! im hopoing that i dont have touch it but im hoping for some feed back about it!!!

the only thing i suggest is a 1.6 LDA pin in your 1.9 pump! that sould match your air to fuel ratio!
