Isn't it about time VW brought this back around?
« on: November 29, 2025, 06:59:19 pm »
"Fahrvergnügen" is a German term meaning "driving enjoyment," created for a Volkswagen advertising campaign in the late 1980s. It combines the words "fahren" (to drive) and "Vergnügen" (enjoyment) to express the unique pleasure of driving a Volkswagen car.

Now that it has seen little use since the 80s I was thinking that VW would bring it back with the introduction of their new electric vehicle.  Why hasn't that happened?  Every thing in marketing seem cyclic in some way.  They just throw a little different flavor of spice on it.

Ford seems to be bringing back the old names so will it just be a matter of time that we see this again?  I was tempted to paint it on the back window of my pickup when I painted it this summer.  It just seemed to fit.  I needed a good stencil to make it happen.  Maybe there are still people selling them somewhere.

Just some weird thoughts for the day.

The VAG's reputation for customer satisfaction is too low for "driving enjoyment" to fit any new marketing slogan,  even for an electric car,  especially for a VAG electric car.   Electronic and infotainment system reliability has been pretty bad since VAG got into those things.

In your case,  Fahrvergnügen totally fits, but even if people did remember that slogan,  most wouldn't buy it.

VAG is going to have to come up with a slogan,  not to get people to remember the past of the 80's and 90's of VW greatness,  but to get them to forget the past 20 years and just trust them again.

I'm sure AI can help them with that.

Yeah, I kind of forgot all about the lack of trust thing over the shady deals made in the last couple of decades.  Guess being an old relic VW owner has my head under the hood more than it should.

I think a new slogan might help but I don't think AI is going to help with that.  Human creativity should rule the day on that.  Does AI have an imagination?  I think it makes things up but not to the extent of original thought.  I could be wrong as I don't use it.
