I think there's a detroit green that is lighter than john Deere.
 Just short of minty green.

Dupli-Color DE1618 Ceramic Detroit Diesel Alpine Green?

It'd be neat to know what shade of green would be accurate tho. Truth be told i was unaware that ecodiesels were painted.

They have to paint engine blocks or they would probably rust holes in them in the salt states. Detroit green is way too light, mint chip ice cream color. John Deere "hunter green" is probably the closest you can get easily in the U.S.A. without having something custom mixed. For me, it would be close enough.

Many things we do naturally become difficult only when we try to make them intellectual subjects. It is possible to know so much about a subject that you become ignorant.

Ah, John Deere green it is!

I wonder - i have purchased John Deere Blitz Black at the local tractor dealership for some other projects. Heck of a paint - hard as nails, sticks to anything, wonderful lustre. Cheap, too. After some wet sanding it is almost indistinguishable from the black plastic used on mk3-up vw dashboards.

I wonder if the Deere branded green paint (made by Valspar) is rated for engine blocks? If the quality is anything like JDBB i would absolutely buy it, if it's rated for those temperatures.

Valspar, Rustoleum, and others have JD green.

I sell a brand called Aervoe and they used to have JD green but no longer pay for the licensing of the name so no more, but that is the color I used for my block. It was only rated to 350f, but I figured it won't ever get that hot or I am in trouble with more than the paint.

At some point in the not-too-distant past, there was this same discussion and someone actually posted a link for THE paint. Was here or maybe on the grand-dad, Rip van Winkle forum. But, your answer is out there.
