For Sale: 1982 Jetta 4 Door 1.6TD SF Bay Area California
« on: January 08, 2011, 04:23:49 pm »
I bought the 1.6TD from a VW German auto shop in LA. They import engines from Germany and this motor only had 69K original miles on it. The engine has about 80K on it by now. I removed all the AC stuff when I installed the 1.6TD.

I use only AMSOIL 100% Synthetic Motor Oil (http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?code=AFLQT-EA). I also run a 50/50 BioDiesel blend.

What has been done over the last 2 years:

Timing Belt
Injectors
Injection Pump Resealed
Intermediate Shaft outer Bearing
Clutch
Complete Cooling System - Water Pump, Radiator, Thermostat, upper and lower hoses
Fuse Box
Drive Belt
Drive Axles
Lower Control Arms and Bushings
Ball Joints
2.5" Turbo Back Exhaust with custom Down pipe
Rear Brakes -- Passenger side wheel cylinder, repacked bearings
Master Cylinder
Battery
New Front Windshield and Gasket
Front Wing Windows upgraded to the "bolt on" latch type

The car is 99% oil drip free. I get 35-36 MPG around town. I am sure you could get 40+ with mostly highway driving.

The dash is in great shape with no cracks. The front and rear seats are out of a Scirocco. They are in okay shape. The drivers seat has some wear and the rear seat head rests some separation at the seam. The carpet is pretty good as well.

The body has a decent shine and it is 99% rust free. The strut towers are in great shape. The passenger side rear door has a problem with one of the hinges. The door still opens and closes but the hinge will need to be welded (see picture). All the locks and door handles work fine with the same key.

The horn, windshield washer pump and rear defrost do not work.
