Vortex

Is it dead? I don't need the site much, but to sell/buy stuff. I haven't been able to access it for about 2 days. Is it dead or just me?

zeroforum had legal issues.

it's switched over to v bulletin now.

it's an awful set up.

Does this mean the search function will finally be useful on vortex?

I concur with theman53, the classifieds are the only really useful tool on the vortex, there is so much stuff there.

Being a man with a gasser side too... I'm a fan of the Quantum and Fox forums over there, and certain threads on the Fabrication Forum are tops.

I will miss the loss of the zeroforum private/instant messaging system, though...

I understand the site better now. I think it is more useful to me than it was. Never did search anything there yet.

There's more to that site than just the classifieds (and trolls with name recognition).. but it's one of the best sites for used parts.
Lots of great info and help there on custom parts/mods for the MK1,.. glad it wasn't lost and converts over tot he new formatt.
MK2 forum hasn't been as helpful,... bump a thread 2 years old with a question, they provide no valuable info and still tell me to search (haven't seen a post telling someone to do a search since it went back up, ha).

Vortex being shut down reminded me of how much I depend on it.
Also reminded me of how much time I spend on it, got alot done for those couple days.
They must be scrambling to set everything up right,.. huge job.
Listening to people on the vortex whine about the new format before they even have time to set it up is lame.
I'm pretty sure several of the local vw clubs are running vbullitin and it looks/works great.

Phew, I didn't lose my post count  ;D

Lately I've noticed that the quality in the mk1 section has been going down but it's still a fantastic resourse. I'm glad it's back.

You can just run the arrow over the topic and a window will let you know the first bit,
so you don't have to click to find out it's lame.

They say they are working on converting the archives over. They are somewhere like 30% done. I really hope they fix the search because it's even more useless then ever.
