WTB: Valve adjustment Discs, valve adjusting tools
« on: May 02, 2010, 07:35:40 pm »
I have an 81 1.6 d Rabbit that needs the valves lash adjusted.  I want to buy some discs that measure less than 3.60mm and over 3.75 mm.  I have never adjusted the valves on the 1.5, 1.6 diesels so I don't really know what discs I will need or what is commonly used, but I have 1-3.55, 3-3.65, 6-3.70, 1-3.75, 1-3.80 on hand.

What sizes are the most common that I will need, and what would some of you recommend?

If some of you all have some simple tips to help in adjusting these, getting the discs out, what tools I will need etc., I would appreciate the counsel.

I would like buy some other lesser and greater discs to have on hand when I dive into adjusting the valves.  If you have some random discs, sets etc. let me know and see if I can get what I need to adjust these up.  I will need more for my 1.6 td also I expect, as well as a couple more engines I have.  So, let me know what you think I need, and what you have.

I would also like to buy some used tools if you have any extra lying around that will work well.  I will be needing to adjust the valves in 11mm 1.5 and 1.6 heads, and the 12mm head.

Thanks :)

I have quite a stack between those numbers,.. lots of 3.75s, even more 3.70s.
 1- 3.90
 1- 3.85
 3- 3.80
 6- 3.50
 1- 3.45
 2- 3.40
 1- 3.35
 1- 3.25
 1- 3.15
 50 cents each plus shipping

I screwed up and counted 3.40s twice so edited that.
 He also wants 3- 3.75s

20 shims for $10 plus shipping.
