Road trip!!!
« on: July 29, 2009, 05:44:45 am »
Just got back last night. '92 jetta, AAZ, 460,000 on the clock. Left home (one hour west of London) friday. Picked up 4th person in Lucan (north of London) and went to North Bay(family reunion). Took the kid to Sudbury to see science north and dynamic earth (mine tour) came back to the Bay on Monday. Stopped for fuel at Sturgeon Falls because the wife was getting nervous with the gauge under 1/4 tank. 903km, could only squeeze 44 litres in.......  must be doing someting right!!

Kid (7 years old) got his first fish, a really good smallmouth, and I found this on the trip. Pretty sure it's been at this gas station for a long time, I have faint memories of seeing it before and I haven't been there in at least 20 years....

This thing is between Sturgeon Falls and the Bay on highway 17. Has plates on it, but I didn't ask if it was for rent.

I think so. Pretty sure I saw a stock type exhaust under the back. Burn your money might know, this thing is in his old stomping grounds (almost).

Wonder what it's turning radius is?

I hate limos but that's kinda neat! :D
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Haha yeah I know that beetle. I think it's more of a promo thing. The guy usually has a few cars on his lot for sale and also electric bikes and fun stuff like that.

I'm heading to the bay this weekend, how's the construction looking on 11?

Trout, Nippissing or Nosbonsing Lake?

The construction is going on for a lot of miles, but doesn't seem to be hurting the traffic too much. I'm shocked at the changes in the highway, haven't been up there in a while.  One of my uncles lives just off trout lake road, (and another one at the top of the hill off 11) but we didn't get to Trout lake. Renunion was at one of the pavillions on Nippissing, almost beside the government dock Didn't get a bite there, but I've hauled in all kinds of stuff there before.  Didn't get to Nosbonsing this trip, but my Grandma and her "shackee" (her word not mine!) used to live in a cabin and dance hall on about 9 acres just across the road from Nosbonsing.  Kid got the fish in a little creek just outside Vernor.  We stopped to see someone that wound up with a couple of horses we used to own, they were only about a mile off 17. Guy told me the kid would catch a rock bass or bluegill.......  Afterwords he showed me a picture of a huge muskie he pulled out of the same spot last year. I'd have been dragging the kid out of the water if he tagged one like that!!

Looks like you're getting better weather than we did. We had lots of rain. Going up for  Rocks the Bay?? One of my cousins spent the weekend in a tent at Mattawa for their festival.
