2 alternators can make 1?
« on: June 12, 2008, 07:37:28 pm »
I have an alternator from a turbo motor that is on my floor it is good. It is the one on the left. The bad one is on the right and currently in the Jetta now. These are different just a little. The turbo one has a w terminal and no extra stud. the one in the car has no w terminal and a stud for the eyelet/wire in the car. What can I do to try to make 2 into one? or can I find a place to stick that wire on the good turbo alt? Let me know. I just don't feel like getting it built...again.

apparently it isn't hard to swap over the w terminal.. i think that is all you would really need.  crack the alternators open and swap it over.  i think vince waldon has a website with some useful into on the w terminal.
