Newbie to the VW IDI world..But not to diesels.
« on: March 10, 2008, 02:22:22 pm »
Hey everyone!
Guess this is where i'll be for most of my stay on this site. I'll start off by saying hello! My names Marko.
Im picking up my first 1992 VW Jetta with a 1.6L turbo diesel IDI and 5 speed tranny. car is basiclly stock.
Now i am By no means new to diesels. i've been playing with old ford IDI'S (6.9L&7.3L) International engines, and some of the Cummins 5.9L old 12 valves.
But i've never played with an engine of this size.
I Was thinking right off to bat to straight pipe it turbo back with a 3 inch exaust. would this be to big? i have a front mount intercooler laying around that i was planing on tossing on, as well as turning up the IP screw a bit(How much should i turn it anyway)
Thanks for your help everyone! and Im hoping to make some freinds here!
(P.S Any Ontario Members here)
IDI's around the world.. from 1.6L To 6.9L

Hello Marko,

Lots of Ontarians here, you actually just missed a great meet.
3" is good, turbo back. There is a handy writeup in the FAQ section about "making your 1.6TD a faster car" that should get you going on the right track

You should add your location to your profile
