tdiclub has turned more into a "club" for old men to drag out long pissing contests.

Exactly. It's a pissing contest to see who's a cheaper bastard when it comes to buying a car, but no-one ever talks about how much they had to pay a real mechanic to fix all the crap that was wrong with their heaps.

None of them ever thinks: "Gee, if I pay more for a car with a history of repair, I won't have to repair stuff later." No, their motto is: "Since I don't know a damned thing about fixing these cars, I'd better try to nit-pick the price of every car out there to save a buck."

The other TDI member is the guy willing to spend ridiculous amounts of money on a newer one with limited options.

I may be getting petty, but I wouldn't be so peeved if they weren't so condescending toward others: especially when they themselves don't know anything about diesels except what their VAG-COMs and other TDI forum members tell them.

Yes, that does make sense. In all fairness, they are VW lovers, just, for the most part, not true enthusiasts. They love the cars and the engines, but don't wrench much.
If they're not against us, they're with us.

lol... some of those wings make me laugh... if only the driver knew just how comical they are.

i mean come on... do you really think your 100 hp (maybe 105 with that k&n filter    ) is capable of putting enough power to the wheels that high speed traction is an issue? lol... most of them probably create more parasitic drag than good.

maybe they can create a wing that allows the car to 'float' while maintaining a small amount of traction to maintain speed.  almost like a hydrofoil?

I'll revive an old post for fun.

I'm going to come to the defense of TDIClub.  I've been helped a great deal by a lot of guys over there.  A lot of them do their own wrenching and a few of them really know their cars inside & out.  There is a ton of good info there and a quite a few helpful people with plenty of knowledge.

However, I have seen it change a lot, especially in the last 2 years.  There are quite a few more 'Texers that have made the transition there & brought their attitude with them.  There are also a lot more hopeless hippies there that want to convert their diesel to run on grease as cheaply as possible.  And yes, there are a couple of people over there that I just don't have much time for.

I like it here.  Good attitude shown all around & everyone seems more than willing to help each other out.   8)

Both sites are great, although I am finding myself spending more and more time over here these days :).

Happy holidays everyone!

I just registered, but only to PM someone about injectors. Too bad I didn't know I could use 2.5 pistons in my 1.9 before I ordered pistons though.

I'd like to throw my $.02 in!!!  I've read from both sites and I do see a pissssssin' match on the other forum.

I've had multiple VW's and have ALWAYS had a problem with the local dealer.  I only say this b/c I had an 03 Wolfsburg Jetta and my g/f now has an 06 PD TDI Jetta, fugged on service with both cars.  I'll tell you all right now that I keep DETAILED documentation when I service her Jetta.  Pictures of the ELF DID 5-40, Mann oil filter, odometer reading so on and so forth.  I'll be damned if I'm going to pay over $75 to have the Jetta serviced when I can service it for about $45.

TDICLUB: "Oh my, you serviced your own car, arnt' you worried about the warrantee..."

VWGTD: "Hi, my name is XXX, I need help with this..."
VWGTDREPLY: "Do this, this, & this & you will have it fixed.."

It's two totally different thoughts, some have $$ and some don't.  Some of us drive older VW's b/c we LOVE THEM.

Call me a stuck up SOB b/c we wanted a new TDI but again, I'LL BE DAMNED if I take it to SUD's for ANY service work again......Lujack's here we come!

BTW, I see what previous members talked about the pissin matches about oil......GIMMI A FREAKIN BREAK!!!  It calls for 505.01, USE IT END OF STORY!

sorry for the rant....

I've never posted an item for sale on the TDiClub forum, but I often read the Car Classifieds. It's like watching an old-fashioned stoning or lions on the African plains. You can't post a single thing without 20 veteran and new members pouncing on your ad, belittling your integrity, and price bashing your merchandise. It's truly pathetic.

I've often considered posting the occasional diesel that I resurrect on that forum, but NEVER will. I recommend others follow suit and avoid the den of hyenas.

Couldn't agree with you more. :D  There is much more to be learned over here, and alot more open minds to facilitate it.

Its seems the universal answer for everything over there lies in a chip............ :)

Yep, the "peanut gallery" there is obnoxious^100000. I hardly post there anymore. Some of the crap pedaled there by "gurus" which is gobbled up by the idiot masses is absolutely astounding in its absurdity.
