Take fine sandpaper to it and the numbers will show up much better.

I think the numbers you need are on the boss up next to the head, kind of under that glow plug connector.  Try a little sandpaper lightly up there and see if anything shows.

The clutch looks like an AAZ........turbo looks like it might be a k14.......not sure about the ip.
Valve cover is old school though. Maybe a mix and match? Does teh intake manifold have a blowoff valve? Does the oil return for the tubo go to the pan or the block?

The oil fitler flange area looks like a 1.6 more then a 1.9. That turbo is too big to be a K14, I'd say K24. I don't see anything strange about the valve cover?

Its a MF, 1.6 td with hydraulic lifters. Valve cover is stock, turbo is a k24, oil drain should go the pan, clutch looks like it is a 210mm unit.

I thought the clutch and the turbo looked like the newer stuff,(1.9) and the valve cover was 1.6.... maybe the whole head for that matter, the injectors look like 1.6 material...... Wondered if the bottom was 1.9. As for what turbo it is, my eyes ain't what they used to be! :)    :) I guess I was looking at the size of the exit hole, not the size of the whole thing.

The water pump area doesn't look right for a 1.9 bottom end, it will say on the back wether its a 1.9 or 1.6 in big letters. Or as already mentioned engine code or if there is an oil return in the block or not.
