May seem like a stupid question but do you have 12v to the shut off solenoid?

TDI - VE Pump TDI Engines / Re: 1Z constant white smoke

Ran a clear lines from the filter to the pump and discovered tons of bubbles coming into the pump. I ran a clear line from the filter to a bottle of fuel and a clear line from the return back to the bottle. I eliminated bubbles coming in but the return line is full of tiny bubbles. Stopping the air coming in greatly reduced the white smoke, yet there is still a small amount. I haven't looked any closer into the codes. I really need to bite the bullet and buy a laptop and VCDS.

I had a 1.5 that was running awful, took ORCoasterís advice and gave the timing a good bump. It ran better than my 1.6! My pump was slightly modified, but the idea stands that these little diesels are very sensitive to timing.

Finally found an R150f! Should be able to start working on the swap soon. Does Acme's V6 kit utilize the alignment dowels?

I scanned the following codes and have gathered some info on what they are.

P0380 Glow plug fault
P1619 Glow plug relay fault
P1144 MAF ??
P1258 Coolant temp short ??
P1161 Intake air temp ??

Iím thinking these may be pointing to to my issue. The fuel ďleakĒ I found was because I tried to bleed air out of the injectors and it ran down lol

IDI Engine / Re: Ethanol ip leak fix
« on: May 06, 2018, 11:24:05 pm »
Any ideas why it works?  Dries out the seals?  Dries out the fuel?  Ethanol and water are not a good combo in most fuel systems.  That is why marine fuel doesn't have it.
It makes rubber o-rings swell. Iím not to keen on trying this though. I think ethanol probably has very little lubricity if any.

Learn from my mistake and fix the fuel leak ASAP. I left one for a while and ended up snapping the timing belt because the fuel weakened it, thus wrecking the motor.

Currently I'm rolling on 35s, so for now the 4.88s should be fine. I'm probably gunna go junk yard searching soon for a v6 trans. I may sas the truck this summer, simply for more aftermarket options and better offroad performance. I think I can recover a lot of the cost of the swap through selling my current 350 swap gear. I see td conversions has a kit to make the back of the tdi look like a small block chevy but I think even though the th350 is a very strong transmssion I think it would be a poor choice for the tdi.

So if I use the R series I'll need to find a turbo 4cyl bellhousing, correct? Or is there a company that makes an adapter for a TDi to a V6 trans? All the adapters I find are for 4cyl trucks.

From playing with a gear ratio calculator it looks like my truck has the stock 4.88s, which will be perfect. I've been discussing the swap with a buddy of mine who has built more Toyotas than he can count and he said the W56 will handle great behind even a modified TDi. He has seen one take years of abuse behind a 383 stroker. Im thinking I may go with a W56 since then I can also use a gear driven t-case rather than chain drive. They are far more plentiful it seems than the R150s are.

I think I misunderstood some of my readings. Can I adjust the TDI timing using my dial gauge for IDIs?

It might be air in the lines or timing.  Best get out the dial gauge and see if it is advanced a bit too far or not far enough.
Can I adjust the timing on the tdi by tilting the pump? I thought Iíd need to use a computer to do that.
