Title: 1,9 to 2,1 liter
Post by: ISBjornen on August 04, 2007, 09:49:01 am
What is the advantage of drilling from the original 1,9 to 2,1 liter?

will the block even support that?  it would be higher displacement, more power, more fuel consumption, and more problems down the road due to change in compression etc.

I don't think compression will change, well the compression ratio I mean. Quite frankly, I don't think you can bore it to 2.1. The cylinder walls are gonna be way too thin to support any major power. You can't bore a diesel that much like you can on a gasser.

how much space is there with a 1.9 and a 1.6 between 2 cilinders? i mean how tick is the wall. if its smaller, maybe we realy realy do need more better solutions for headgasketproblems

I know of a 2.0L down this way that is being built for a rabbit pickup :D

using the pistons from an audi 2.5 tdi will yield a 2.0L.  You need 83mm pistons to get 2067cc aka a 2.1L.  That's pretty thin between the cylinders...gassers have taken the block out to 83.5mm

if you can find pistons that are exactly the same as required to have the same compression ratio then i guess you're right, but good luck finding it!

The compression ratio does indeed go up when overboring due to the fact that the combustion chamber (the 1 part of the ratio) remains the same yet the volume of the cylinder (the bigger number) increases.

Geez major brain fart... you're right. I was only thinking about piston travel (which doesn't change) but didn't compensate for the added volume

how big i the audii 2,5tdi pistons? im thinking about them, im also planing to try a 1z top and block with oil cooling on the pistons. but whit my 12 mekanikal pump. and 2 step injkectors

ideas?

this guy use the 2.5pistons

i think 2step injectors are good for economical, but i think fot best perfomance you better use 1step.

My pistons are first oversize and that will give a hair less than 2 liters. I think it will give slightly more torque.

I will be running 2 step ionjectors, will alos use a 1Z top butt whit the aaz injector pump, maby ill use the 1Z bottom becuse of the oil cooling on the pistons.

All turbodiesels have oil cooling on the pistons, and if you use a 1Z top, you gotta use a 1Z bottom
