so, I think I have a bit of a problem.

I was going to go mechanical, but scored a mk3 TDI wiring harness, so I decided I'll go electronic.

but, my TDI is different, I'm taking an AAZ block and converting it to a TDI,

so I don't think my crank has provisions for an ESS sensor

does anyone have any pictures as to where and how it mounts?  Maybe I can mod my block and crank, or, at the very least, add a hall sensor plate to the crank pulley and run it like that, but I want to see if there's a factory way to do it first.

thanks

ESS = engine speed sensor

well you need a TDI crank then.   it will have a wheel on the inside with slots (to measure engine rpm)

you will most likely need to have it machined in.  i don't think any 1.9's came with it, but you might be lucky... my block is still in my trunk so maybe i'll check it out unless someone else chimes in.
