Title: 5 sp. trans fill hole...where?
Post by: Trimster on July 31, 2007, 01:43:38 pm
Where is the lube fill hole for the 5 speed trans?  I have a POS aftermarket manual and it does not even go there.

TIA

pull out the speedometer cable and fill it there! all you need is a larg phillips screwdriver and pull the cable and gear out! Fill up and reinstall cable and tighten philips screw!  very simple to do!
thanks Duane

Yes, you can fill from there, but that won't let you know when the trans is 'full'.

The fill plug is on the front of the transmission, facing the radiator. It's a 17MM plug, just like the drain.

What year is your car? The early Mk2s have a different fill procedure then the later ones.
