I have a 1.6L NA Dasher, with Superior Performance IP on it
I might be getting a TD Quantum, and I'm wondering if I would be able to put swap my pump on
I mean, I know I can do it, and that it will run fine, at first at least
But will it just run fine for a while and then??
I don't know a whole lot about the interior mechanics of injection pumps, just some of the basics
What about the TD pumps is different?
What problems could I run into with my boosted NA pump on a TD engine?

It will be fine. Increase the max fuel screw a bit. You'll get more off boost smoke, but it will perform ok as long as you don't push more than 12psi boost. The LDA allows you to run leaner (less soot) when off boost and will dump proportionately more fuel on boost. My wife's quantum TD had the i/p pump swapped (before I got it) when the original turbo went south (found a crack in the exhaust housing that ran from the hot side to the wastegate). I increased the max fuel screw to compensate. It smokes more off boost, but it still makes 10-11psi with the T3.

If it were a standard IP it would make the car pretty slow but since it's a giles pump, it'll be fine.

great
what about the standard pump would make it not fine?
will i still see an equal amount of improved hp/performance with the giles pump?
also, what would my NA dasher engine run like if i put the turbo pump on it?
i have one friend who put a turbo pump on his NA caddy and says it runs great
could that cause any problems?

A standard pump would be fine but you'd only get near ECOdiesel power. Since your pump is modded to provide much more fuel than stock you'll get more power.
TD pump on a NA will run like a NA pump on a NA because the fuel isn't increased as boost rises.

ha.. EcoQuantum

it'll be alright, i dunno what the dealio with only running 12 psi? its not going to hurt it to run more boost anymore than running more boost with a td pump. i would switch tops on the giles pump

Eco quantum...yeah...Here's mine...(actually my wifes..)..the day before it went to the painters...

I have an NA pump on my ECOdiesel right now (no, not the original pump, a 91 NA pump). It runs fine. Tho, I've never had a true turbodiesel pump on it so I don't know if I'm loosing a lot of power. I did crank the fuel up some, though.

Eco pump- 8mm plunger
N/A /TD pump - 9mm plunger

That's exactly what I did on my wifes quantum. Used the n/a 9mm pump & ran 2.25" from turbo back, and upped the fueling. It smokes a bit, reminiscent of my dads '58 180D when I was a wee wun, but it's fine on the highway.

Yep, the NA pump provides more fuel. The eco pump is probably the worse pump as far as performance goes.

Hmm, I didn't know that about the ECO's piston size. Good to know.

is there any extra work that i'll have to do, or will it be just like installing any other pump on there?
