Title: What is normal operating temp?

Greetings,

Driving a Samurai 4x4 with a 1.6td in it, I am curious what "normal" operating temps are. Say in traffic, under heavy load, etc.

Maybe then I would have more of a clue as to where this BioZuk should be running?

my oil temp in  my 1.9td runs at 180F, fully warmed up, idle.  Normal highway  cruising temp is  between 200-210F.

all i can say is that the engine runs much colder than a gas.  If you're towing with a diesel just make sure the temp doesnt go over the halfway mark and you should be ok.

In the winter my needle barely moves.  lukewarm air is about all I can get unless i'm on the highway.  No exact temps for you though :(

J:  You should be able to get a great amount of heat on the highway even when it is -30.  City driving isn't very good for heat unfortunately.  If you have an A2 you can pop the front grill off of the car in about 10 seconds and then stick some cardboard to the rad.  The OEM rad has a metal strip down it so you just stuff the cardboard behind that.  There is no need to tie the cardboard on, it will hold. :)
