ive heard talk of running the 1.9 metal headgasket on the 1.6 td, what is the benefit of this? when i heard metal gasket, are you refeering to a MLS gasket? and is it a 1.9 idi or 1.9 tdi gasket? maby a part # also. because mine is all apart and want to know if its something worht getting. il post a build thread soon. thanks for the help!

why can it not be used on a solid lifter motor?

Because the solid lifter engines have only one oil drain at the front of the head and block. Hydro engines have two oil drains. The second hole in the gasket is right were a coolant port would be (I think it's coolant) and would cause a leak.

Sure it can be use in solid engine. YouŽll have to block the extra hole with piece of rubber.
