Title: Last minute pre-roadtrip prep... injector blow-by???
Post by: akrallysport on July 16, 2007, 06:23:09 pm
I'm taking my Jetta on its first extended roadtrip since I bought her March 2006. Since then, I've overhauled the suspension, rear brakes and wheel bearings and will be tackling the front brakes and wheel bearings once I get the steering knuckles from a Jetta GT to complete the 9.4" to 10.1" upgrade. I also hope to schedule the timing belt job with Wingaman when I find out my work schedule for next week.

My concern is from the blow-by on Injector #1 (closest to belt cover). With normal driving, there doesn't seem to be any blow by... it only occurs the rare times that I spin the engine past 4000 rpm. When there's blow-by, it usually results in a fine spray pattern over the intake pipe. Should I worry? All I'm looking to do is set the cruise control at 110kph and let it ride for 1250km each way.

Well, decided to fix my leak on the road... it was only the fuel return line between injectors #1 and #2. Had some spare tubing in the trunk and popped it on in my friend's driveway in Toronto.

Started in Montreal with a full tank and made it to Marine City, MI with no fuel stops... 884km on 49.5L (including 35-45 minutes in Toronto rush hour traffic)

My dad is currently staring at my diesel receipts... looks like he'll be getting a new Wabbit diesel when they're released. He drives a Jetta 2.0 gasser 35000 km/year.

Glad to hear the trip was uneventful

I always brag about my car whenever a "gasser" is riding with me lol

Actually you can have more friends driving a diesel... people call shotgun a year ahead of time because it costs less.
