Title: How much PSI without blowing the engine?
Post by: Bojje on July 12, 2007, 11:18:43 am
Hello!

As the topic says I'd like to know how much boost the engine can take safely. The engine: 1,9TD.

Thanks  :D

Is your engine stock, or does it have modifications?  There can be a very big difference depending on your answer.

i wouldnt push more than 20-25 psi if its stock
if you put in head studs,it helps
i used to let my old 1.6td go to 40 psi with studs
its not really the boost that will "blow it up",its the amount of fuel
i used to go 40 psi with the stock 9mm inj. pump, but when i did it with the 12mm pump i installed later on ,i started popping head gaskets

Sounds like Brighten Torque...........

"Torque it up untill it breaks, ....  Then back it off a 1/4 turn..."

After replacing all the "used a bigger hammer, becaused it didn't work anyway' stuff, back the boost down a 1/4 psi.

you will find the perfit match between your walet and your need for........"OMG...What have I done?......"

Enjoy!
