Title: steel non strech head bolts
Post by: Benjamin on July 08, 2007, 03:03:13 am
What should happen when i get myself some custom steel (8.8 ) bolts, non-strech. And use them to bolt my head.

Probably less chance of breaking a bolt and less chance of lifting the head under extreme loads.

I'm looking into some ARP studs for my MB.

i tried regular bolts like you want to and they dont put as much clamping force as the factory stretch bolts do. go with arp if you plan on boosting lots with lots of fuel.

www.headbolts.com

Best to call the guy as ask him about the Cosworth Head studs that the VW diesel guys are using. He should know what you are talking about.

I know for a fact that the ARP main studs and rod bolts he has are alot cheaper then Summit. All his stuff is 6.95 shipping in the US.
