Dear forum members, how ya'll doing?
I'm planning on buying my first car, a Mk3 GTD. I have no experience with these engines so I need some tips and hints on what to look at when searching for the perfect 1,9TD. What are common problems/failures with these engines? What should I especially think about when examinating the engine? What problems should I look for?
And are these engines overall any good for tuning? I've read the FAQ section here on how to fuel it and increase boost, but I need even more power. I thought of investing in a bigger turbo from the junkyard and mounting it. Ofcourse there will be a FMIC and a 2,5" dp and exhaust mounted too before even thinking of tuning it...
What's the stock pump like? Does it support 120-130 horsepowers?

look for a wobbling crank. and stay away unless the price is really really really good

And this is detected by a wobbling crank pulley, am I right?

How important is it to get the one with the LDA? The engine will be tuned, so extra fueling is a must.
And what's the easiest way find out if the engine has LDA?

where do you live? i don't think you can get a mk3 golf without the 1.9TD in Canada.
