rebuilding my engine, and also want to get a new a/c compressor and alternator, wondering if it was more worth it for me to go with a serp setup but dont know all the details...
-
adding a serp belt setup is a huge pain if you have a/c
-
yea.. i got an a/c compressor with the serp pulley from a guy on this forum. i think you need to buy the pulley/clutch possibly compressor? i'm guessing the old a/c compressor is not swappable, but it might be.
-
the problem with the serp setup is the a/c lines are different on a serp comp vs a pulley comp.

but you should be able to get flexible extensions made by a hydraulic hose place. just needs to be able to withstand 600 psi or so max. that's what i will try anyways

The molecules of R-134a are very small thats one prob when retro fitting an old r-12 system. The 134a will actually leak out of a perfectly good hose. Just one thing to think of.

thats why hydrocarbon refrigerant kicks ass 8)

Yes but they are eating a giant gaping hole in our eaths ozone layer causing global warming and the greenhouse effects blah blah blah... Oh i think this tree needs some love.

-
I wanna do this setup on my 1.6 too.... why cant i just get the pulley changed on my compressor?

if you had both you could try... maybe someone else knows whether the serp clutched pulley will fit on the mk2 vbelt a/c compressor?
