Does anyone have information on head porting for a 1.6L NA? I was told by some folks over on vintagewatercooled.com that you can port these heads and get some noticable gains. Are there diagrams/schematics/etc. that show how to do it?
Thanks

hopefully i will be conducting some testing on this in a few months since i am at school right now i do not have access to the flowbench at work. when i do port a junk head first i will post pictures and results of what works and what doesnt
good luck

Thanks Justin,
I'll keep an eye out for your post

i'd suggest that the techniques involved in porting a diesel head would be very similar to a gas head. Already, the ports are better in a diesel than a gas, quite similar to the old 115 hp 1.6L heron gas engine. The ports are quite straight. I'd also imagine that you could polish the intakes to a mirror-like shine as you don't need port turbulence to promote fuel atomization. That should give a bit better flow.

Anybody had done this?
Before and after dyno?

i hope to have access to a dyno at school when i do some alternative fuel research at Kettering University (formerly GMI) this summer, and if it works out then i should have a full three months of time to work on things of this nature, so i guess that i will have to get access to that flowbench at work and get my best cylinder head worked up for this summer and then let you guys know what works for a HP and Torque before and after
later
