Title: About to get a diesel
Post by: RabbitGTI on July 03, 2007, 08:46:39 pm
Well I'm about to get a Rabbit LS diesel. And I have a few questions. I currently drive a 96 Jetta 2.Slow. And I dont think I could drive a car slower then that. Are there any mods to do these diesel engines to give them extra power?

Some NA engines are already fast, it's weird. Change the t-belt and have the timing set properly. New injectors go a long way in preformance and economy.

You can get a turbo kit for it and as long as you keep the boost conservative the engine will last

Good tires and a good tranny will make a huge difference as well

don't expect the NA diesel to be fast, and i don't imagine it will be any quicker than your mkIII. you could send the injection pump to giles for his NA mods. you could install a 1.6TD from an 82-92 car, or a 1.9TD from an 93-97ish car. you could have giles work on the turbo pump then you'll start moving..

My stock mk2 TD has trouble keeping up with my friends 2.0 with a header if that gives you any idea.

Driving a rabbit is a completely different experience though and I'm sure you'll fallin love with it the first "fast" corner you take
