I recently read a post about a guy who had a 3.67 final drive in his 1.6 and absolutly hated it. He said his car was a total dog.
Is anyone running this setup?
I was thinking of getting an ASF and swapping in a 0.71 fifth. I know it's a fairly big jump from 4th to fifth. Ideally I'd love to get a DFP with the .091 fourth but I don't have one in my inventory

Thats awesome you have inventory. i wish i had VW inventory.
-
ASF is with a swapped in .71 5th is hands down my favorite o2o gearbox to run in a td. I doubt it would be a dog even stock, it definitely is not a dog the way I set up my motors.

Wonderful, thanks Dave :D
Yeah it's great having an endless supply of parts
-
I too would love the 3.67 Final Drive and the .71 fifth.
-
you think that tranny could take a TDI? Not being raced or beat on, but boosting to around 18psi max (probably 8-10 daily) ?
-
My new tranny, for use with the AAZ Torquemonster is a DFP with 3.67 and .71. I'm looking for great things on the top end...
-
The DFP is what I wanted but at $400 I decided to pass and build my own. I think I have 2 extra 0.71 gear sets that I'll sell when I get to that
ezekiel If you aren't doing any sudden torque loading it should be fine. Get a bolt kit for the diff though

I have a FN 3.89/ .71 and the N/a would like a little more rpm on the highway around 60-70mph. But if i had a little boost it would pull great. Plus my tires are a little taller than the factory ones.

I'm running a tranny code CHD, which is a 3.67 final with a .75 fifth, in an MK3 golf with a high mileage 1.6TD, and i dont find it to bad at all, i like the ratio better than the one i had in the jetta the engine came from it was a 3.94 final, with all the same gear ratios 1st through 5th.

I have an FN tranny with 3.89 final and .71 fifth. With stock tires the motor turns 3000RPM @70MPH. I wonder if a 3.67/.71 in a NA rabbit would be to high geared? You'd have to down shift as soon as the car saw a hill but whats knew?
-
I've been running FN for years, and love it. A nice tall fifth is just what the doctor ordered for my purposes. In N/A it didn't like the hills, but with a turbo it was mint.

I'm running a 3.67 differential with a .71 5th gear in a 1992 1.6 TD. See the post "My 1992 Ecodiesel is done." The car was originally an Ecodiesel (N/A pump) with a 4.25 differential and a .75 5th gear. It was absolutely miserable to drive on the highway. Now, I can comfortably run 75-80 mph. And there's plenty of power to pull the taller gearing around the city. [/i]

A friend of mine put his ECO trans behind his gasser and it was a much better match for the gasser powerband. he plans to put a FN with the 3.67 final when his project is completed.
I agree my car would be great with boost h n/a dosen't like the hills.
-
ah i cant wait to install my CHE with a 0.71 5th w/3.67 final...
78mph @ 3000rpm! Yesss!! (i know... TDI trannies are so much better, but AHA! it comes with a PELOQUIN!!!)

Man, I wish I could get a 3.67 final drive for my front and rear QSW differentials... I can get a .7x fifth gear from a Quattro, but nothing lower than a 3.89 for final drive.
