hey guys i am thinking about building a turbo diesel and i was curious on what turbos you guys run and how much boost, if you are running turbos from different cars then what are they out of? is anybody running a turbo out of a ford probe or thunderbird turbo coupe??
thanks guys
oh and this would either be for a 1.5 or 1.6, and i know that the 1.5 is a non turbo block so I would need oil squirters which i would probably drill the rods for a small hole to squirt oil on the pistons
thanks in advance

most of us use the stock turbo that comes on the car which are bigger than most probe or thunderbird ones. I personally run 23 psi without any problems. my jetta is a 1.6 with 391,000 and it runs a 16.7 @84 mph (stock ran 18.4)

what turbo is the stock turbo compariable to? and what size is the stock turbo?
thanks guys

if you're building up a TD, it might be worthwhile looking through some wrecking yards and finding a good used, or core TD engine to start with. I personally wouldn't bother with a 1.5L though.

i will look through some junk yards but there are not that many VW's in my area, i probably wont use a 1.5 for a turbo setup but i just put in there since i have 2 running and the parts for a third, 1.6's are hard for me to find in this area, but i might be on to a source of them, one can only hope and wait for the right things to come along right?
the reason that i was asking about the turbo size was because of the abundance of wrecked ricers around and the turbos working off of those if i do find something that has a bad turbo or doing the oil squirters from the rods to cool the pistons on a non turbo 1.6 block
plus some of this will never see the road just hopefully dyno time at school next summer
