Title: What turbo is on a '86 Jetta TD?
Post by: onwardtothestars on June 29, 2007, 06:19:14 pm
I'm looking for a Turbo for my 1982 Audi 4000 Turbo Diesel and someone offered me a turbo from a '86 Jetta TD, what turbo is in this car? I'm looking for the K24 or Garrett.

It's either a T3 or a K24

Petrol Audis ran an external wastegate where as the VW diesels run an internal wastegate. I dont know if the Audi Diesels use internal or external. Just make sure before you get one. Either way you can always swap the exhaust housing.

it should work.  you just might need some different flanges and some extra time to fabricate stuff.

Bought it .... it's no different. The engine in my car is from a '92 Jetta TD. With the Audi manifolds mounted.

Will be nice to have a Turbo now...
