Title: VNT-20 help
Post by: moonstation2000 on June 21, 2007, 08:47:27 pm
I'm thinking of buying a vnt-20 and was wondering if anyone knows how hard it will be to mount to an ALH.

I'm putting the engine into a mk 1 scirocco. Just looking for general info on the -20, as I don't know much about them.  I know that I will need a new exh manifold but that's about it. Worried about oil and coolant locations/orientations.

Any help would be mucho appreciated.

the oil lines should be simple, im not 100% but you should be able to use ATP oil feed/return lines, always run a restrictor i dont care what anyone says...

downpipe, you'll have to make one, but i dont know where you can find a flange... but i might..

call this place up, they sell VNT-20 hardware kits, they should have everything need for oil lines, downpipe flanges ect.

www.kermatdi.com

btw anyone know what flange the VNT20 is? is it t25 or t3?

if you're going to a VNT-20 be sure to have an EGT gauge & 2.5 inch exhaust from the dp all the way back... i hear so many people having issue with these turbo's (probably noobs slapping a vnt-20 on and blowing hot boosted air around)

No problem with the exhaust and egt.  They are definitely going in the car.
I am just unfamiliar with the VNT-20 and the different types and I don't want to buy one that will get me in trouble and make me regret the purchase.

I'm doing it too.  I think both of our cars are grey '81 'S's too if I can remember.  :D

Though I think we are both going different ways to the final product.  ;)

My ´rocco is ´74 TS. It has "only" 1,6TD, GT2359V etc. I thought I have the only diesel mk1 ´rocco, but I was wrong :D

Well, I guess "technically" you may not have the only diesel mk1 scirocco, but my car is not running yet and I haven't seen any others so you are safe for a while.

Plus, mk 1 sciroccos are so rare anyway, I never see any driving around!

Agreed.  Not many Mk1's at all.  I know that mine is the only one in my town- quite possibly the only one that is in good drivable condition within probably 100 mile radius.  Audi80, at least your's runs.  :D  Mine still has the gasser in it and the TDI is sitting on the garage floor.  :P

But yeah, I'm going M-TDI.  ;)
