Title: AAZ Run-on problem
Post by: johnboy on June 20, 2007, 03:28:02 pm
My Passat has developed a slight problem, the engine occasionally will run-on for 10-20 seconds after removing the key. I guessing that the cut off solenoid is playing up however mine is covered by the immobiliser which I believe needs breaking off to gain access. Two wires go into it.
My main question is, after removing the immobiliser, do I need to refit it? and if not, will the wiring need altering?

Ive had the car since last november, its only started to play up over the last couple of days. Why, do you think it could be something else?

Got an answer today. Yes the immobiliser does need smashing off, but you dont need to refit it.
One of the wires is the live to the cut off solenoid, the other is there to kill the shut off live in the evert of the car been started with a key without a transponder chip. Therefore not required unless you want to keep the car immobilised.
