JX is rated at about 3 HP less than a MF

the JX pump is harder to increase fuel under boost.

The JX pump fits under the decklid of a vanagon, thats its main advantage

yup that's about the size of it, and i aint using mine. i'm using a gtd pump on my vanagon, so i will have to cut the engine lid to cater for it, but they are better that the jx pump by far.

Search for JX, theres some ramblings from me and a couple of others about making them a bit better.

Thing is, that LDA was only designed for the JX, so it could fit in such a shallow engine bay, obviously only being designed to fit one engine in one vehicle it didn't need to be that adjustable, so it isn't!

LDA runs out of steam about .5br ish and offers no more fuel past this point.
I have a Westy vanagon Atlantic, and i don't want to hack my engine lid as it forms the base of my bed so i may well be adapting one soon to fit a AAZ pump, dunno yet.

I think a normal upright LDA type pump with Vanagon levers will be the best way to go as there won't be much hacking to do to the engine lid, and the throttle levers will be well out of the way of the lid, plus you get the adjtability of a normal pump.

What would happen if you turned the pump 90deg toward the alternator.
You would need to custom make your own added steel and holes (including the intimidating fourth back bolt)  in the pump bracket........ Turn the pulley too. Could that work with the sequence of injection?

Let me put it this way....
If you could turn the pump 90deg clockwise you could likely fit the "good" pump's aneroid under the van's cover.

The LDA isn't really the problem, it's the levers, with not much of a bulge they will go in, it's just when you use the engine lid as a bed base that it starts getting annoying.

I got another AAZ to vanagon swap to do in the next few weeks, but it's got the weird pump with the immobiliser and the vernier pulley, the one where you can't turn the pump to set the timing. it's also got the electronic timing thingy on it too..
great, more work...

hey mr brick :) how goes it? hope all is well an all.

simple answer to the lid, cut the hole and fit a westy rock n roll bed,

joking aside, it would be great to mod the jx pump to allow for the amount of tuning as in gtd pump, i know i aint going to have any more time to research it this side of never.

the pump does sit lovely n flat i give it that, i hope you and bappa strike it lucky with you findings.
