I think it might be time for a new battery, so I was wondering, can I throw a larger battery (by larger I mean more CCA).
The car is rated for a 650 cca battery, but can I throw a 900 in there, will the alternator still be able to keep it charged?
Just wondering!
-
the alternator will be able to charge it, unless you somehow drain it...
Are you looking to upgrade for better cold starting? (car will start much easier with a big 900cca)
-
thats gonna be expensive when you have to replace those :(
-
I just wanted to upgrade to a 900 or 1000 cca, i figure, why the hell not?
I wa sjust wondering if there WAS a downside, other than size and weight?

i've got an 1150 in mine.....and belive me, it helps in the winter :D
-
wow, who makes an 1150?
-
I have an Optima red top 34R in my Passat TDI and I feel it's just adequate.
800 CCA.

motomaster eliminator....ask for 1 battery for an 86 f-250 4x4 6.9Ldiesel
(the truck should have 2 so just ask for one) i'm 99% sure its 1150CCA...if not its like 1000
-
the Dodge Cummins diesel application ('91 - 93) has a 1150-1200CCa
I use 1000cca from 'Costco' ~$49 USD in my VW-D's
-
PowerVolt.. Mean wicked battery. I won't buy another motomaster again.
-
I prefer to ask not how large of a battery is possible, but how small... :P

You guys who have yet to try an absorbed glass matt battery type, do not know the cranking power and lightness you're missing. (Not that I'd recommend the tiny 14 pound battery pictured above for a daily driver application!)
-
so where in canada can you get these amazing batteries?
-
I got mine from Harrington Heavy Diesel on Glenmore, just west of Barlow trail heading west. I imagine any heavy diesel shop would have a similarly gruesome battery.
