Title: Weird Pump Issue - No Throttle
Post by: myke_w on June 04, 2007, 08:25:23 am
So I'm rebuilding an old diesel the other day and I pull a known good pump off the shelf and throw it on the car. For some reason the throttle arm makes no difference in the way it runs. In other words the car just idles the whole time. What could be the issue? Is there somthing stuck in the pump that could be an issue?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Note where the notch in the throttle shaft is in relation to the throttle arm. Take the arm and springs off. Put the springs and arm back on but moved one notch clockwise compared to the original set-up. Make sure the bolt that holds the arm on is tightened properly and that the arm is seated tight over the shaft.

hmm, I see your logic,

but if it was only one notch off you think you'd get at least some throttle response right?

the arm is definitely rotating the shaft in the housing..

and this pump never came apart either, it worked when shelved..

How is it running now? Nice and smooth or rough?
