does anyone know where i can get the appropriate tool to loosen the triangle shaped bolts that the governor assembly rotates on? or even what it might be called?
-
you could probably make it out of steel rod with a drill and some creative filing.
-
QuickTD could make & sell you one, but since you're in the US check this out:

Macgyver, that metalnerd tool is for the little (8mm across flats) top pump cover bolt on the TDI. I've made those but I'm pretty sure panzerx is looking for the larger triangular socket to fit the large 12mm governor pivot bolts on the non-EDC VE pumps. I've made those as well.
Panzerx, shipping to the US would likely outspend the tool but PM me if you're interested...

that's the right head, but the size of it is way too small, i already have one

Oops sorry I didn't realize there were two different sizes!
I know some guys on the TDI Club have jammed a similar sized regular socket over the smaller top one to get it out, could you do the same with the larger one? A really cheap crappy offshore socket should have enough give in it to be forced on, like one from those 40pc $5 sets?
