It does not look like the compressor housing can be rotated.... 5 off-set bolts in housing. The exhaust side can be rotated from what I can tell. Bought myself a new a/a intercooler and clocking the compressor outlet would help line-up the plumbing.
Thanks for any info!

i believe there are 6 bolts, and they hold clamp bars. loosen them all and you should be able to rotate it no problem.

Thanks for the reply!
I had another look today... yes, there are 6 bolts on the exhaust side for rotating the center section.
If I rotate the center section, then my oil feed/return will no longer sit at a nice vertical position. The
compressor housing has 5 offset mounting bolts... so I won't be able to move it.
I'll just have to use a 90 deg elbow... to a hose... to the new cooler. Turns out that will be the easiest part of
the install! My new cooler is 28" wide and I only have 26" to play with where I want it to sit... so I'm gonna
have to cut into the chassis. D'oh

It seems to me that the compressor side uses those clamping bars similar (but lighter duty) to the hot side. There should be an even number of bolts. Maybe one has fallen out? Have a closer look. If it's installed on your engine, likely, one is buried deep behind the scroll near the manifold, and difficult to see. I'm quite sure you should be able to loosen 6 bolts and rotate the compressor only.

If you're talking about the turbo I left with you Dr Diesel one of the bolts was used to hold on the diaphragm thing so it is dual purpose.

nope, different turbo, k24, i think we're talking about, but quite similar to what you're talking about in some respects.

I had a feel around and I'm quite sure that there are only 5 bolts so that would make it off-set. Here's a
picture that I found on the web that kind of shows the back of the compressor housing with mounting bolts.

Using a 90 deg elbow instead of rotating will work for me... fitting the intercooler is more work than I
thought though, but will have to get done I guess.
Thanks again!

It doesn't matter how many bolts there are. Take a closer look at the pictures, they just hold the clamps. You don't have to remove the bolts to clock the housing, simply loosen the bolts, turn it to where you want it and tighten them up again.

 Oops!!
You were right QuickTD, I can't believe I missed those plates. I shall now crawl back into the hole in the ground I come out of....

we sometimes do have a vague idea what we're talking about around here.
