Title: 93 vs. 97 AAZ
Post by: windsnob54 on April 28, 2007, 07:36:02 pm
Hi,

i have an '82 vanagon with a 97 AAZ and a 93 td golf. the golf pump is kaput and needs to be resealed.

can i put an injector pump from 97 on a 93 without major work?

I know that in 97 they did something with the sproket.

next question...

can i put a JX 1.6 pump (from a euro vanagon td) on the 97 aaz without major work?

i know major work is pretty subjective but you know what i mean :)

...what is the opinion if this is good for performance in the 1.9td vanagon in conjunction with gtd injectors or not.

thanks!

Martin

Yes you can, but the sprockets for each type of pump need to stay with the original pump.

You will have to change the mounting bracket that came with each pump in order to swap from one style to the next (where the pump mounts is a different size hole in each bracket). otherwise shouldn't matter.
The Vanagon pump good question, count the teeth on the pulleys, different timing belts...and throttle cable set up is different.
