Title: Exhaust manifold diameter question
Post by: flapjack on April 09, 2007, 03:25:02 pm
I'm making an exhaust manifold for a 1.6td. The flanges will be 1/2" thick and transition from the oval opening on the head to a round opening.
Should I keep the same x-sectional area or go bigger?
The turbo is a k14, maybe T3
thanks :)

i'd make it expand out if at all possible. that would decrease chances for reversion.

i've never tried. but an old engine builder taught me to port heads and thats the principle we use. you make every thing expand in and out to keep reversion at bay.

you wont gain any performance if you dont have anything else done to the engine. Why not just port the stock td manifold

I would, but the stock exhaust manifold won't fit with the g-60 intake manifold.
