I am trying to get some info on how to,if possible at all, install a AHU tdi in to a 1998 A4 quatrro.I am in Windsor ONT so these cars did not come with diesel option.I did some reaserch on this and many people told me to go for a 2.5 tdi swap but it is very expesiv to get a completr swap.i have an AHU tdi engine from a 96 Passat so mtdi would be the amswer if the engine would somehow bolt up to the quatrro tranny.Anyone done this before.I am interested in any ideas. My budget is limited so spending 5 gs on a 2.5 tdi is out of the question.I moinght be able to do trades for other diesel cars...
anything you have to say.... let me know

They were available here in AHU and AFN form.
What is the current engine in the A4?
-
At this time it has a 1.8T in it.
-
Then the tdi should bolt right up to the gearbox, ratios won't be right though.
Does quattro have any sort of ecu control like haldex?
-
Yeah....sort off i see two plugs going to the quatrro tranny not sure what they are though. What can I do about the gearing???IS it going to be very bad orr?????

You almost need a donor car to do that swap.
