Title: TRADE: '65 chop top beetle project for jetta/golf diesel
Post by: busguy71 on April 02, 2007, 05:16:22 am
hi, I've been reading on this website for a while now but never registered cause I dont have a VW diesel anymore. I'm here now because I'm looking to change that!

I have a partially completed chop top '65 bug for trade. I'd prefer an'85 or newer diesel golf or jetta, but would also consider the older ones as well.

The bug is rough-looking but not really too bad. It was a driver when I got it, just needs an engine to drive again. Included in this trade would be many engine parts, almost enough to build a new engine (new pistons and cylinder set, good AS41 case, complete rotating assembly, flywheel, clutch, maybe more....) Needs some patches on the floors on quarters. I was gonna make it a sweet rat rod. I'll even throw in a fiberglass "W" decklid! Located near Hartford, CT

I'd rather drive my  88  rust bucket diesel  Jetta with holes in the floor then trade  for that

Why did you chop the bug in the first place   you could have made it look old school and had the wicked  Aircooled  vdub motor

you are definitly going to have to finish it or at least get the body taken care of before it is worth much

i dunno guys... i think to the right buyer he could easily get $300.  the right buyer is pretty hard to find though.  that car will require TONS of work... sand blasting... custom windshield & windows... new motor?! tires...  any watercooled guy could see the potential in this.

it wouldn't be so bad if the roof was atleast put back together... but it's not, the hardest part of making that car a car again isn't done plus it has no motor.  really it's worthless when it comes down to it.  i like chopped beetles, but this ones chopped and thats the end of the story lol.

To some people.

Personally, I wouldn't touch a chopped, dropped or slammed Bug, even if you paid me. I might drive a Baja'd Beetle, but only done right.

But then, I'm kinda partial to the stock look of them.
