anyone know of a place that rebuilds the VW IP that does decent work but does not break it off in u kinda price? cause i have a turbo 1.6 with over 300,000 and i know mines tired and in need of some lovin, how much is a decent price to have one rebuilt?

Most diesel shops would be able to rebuild a IP....price for a pump rebuild is prolly about $1000CAN or somewhere around there!!!

If you are going to pay that, might as well have Giles do it. I doubt you could get a better rebuild elsewhere.

i've said it before. let a fuel shop rebuild it. its too easy to get things dirty and whatnot, and they properly calibrate it. also most warantee it. its worth the price. or get a giles :twisted:

A giles pump would be fantastic, although you can still get more performance out of your stock pump according to the post here in the FAQ section.  You may want to go with a stock rebuild and then just "turn it up".  I don't'claim to be an expert, but I have seen prices much lower than 1000cdn or 800-900 us.  I have seen prices from the high 200's up to about 500 for what appears to be solid rebuilds.  You may even be able to ask them to incorperate some of the minor perf additions into the rebuild.
There is a sort of sister site to this one where the owner sell's rebuilds.  I cant remember the name right now but quite a few people cross back and forth. I am sure some one will post the link.
I will ask to local shop for the rebuild cost and find out what it entails.

As another option, you might want to post here on the For Sale/ WTB section.  Someone may have a decent extra pump that you could pick up.

When you do your pump, I would suggest you replace your nozzles at the same time.  Lot's of places will do it and pop test for you.  You could also pick up the nozzles and install them yourself and than bring them to get pop tested.  Kind of makes sense to replace both as a package to get the full benefit out of your effort.

I just talked to the guy who runs Seacoast Fuel Injection in Eliot Maine.  He said he rebuilds the Bosch VE pump from the VW TD for 300 to 325 clams.  He also that was the price for a rebuild if the pump was at least running.  If the pump was siezed up it would be more. His name is Ray.  He was reccommended to me by a squared away VW shop.  You can google the shop name for info or PM me and I will pass on the contact number. You talk to him and decide if your comfortable, if not pass.

www.vwdieselparts.com is that site.  I haven't gotten anything from them yet, but I'm told they're very good and reliable.  Good luck
