Hi,
Hopefully someone here can give me a bit of help. Possibly not a good question for a first post but am not sure what to do.
Am putting a 1997 golf 1.9 TDi AHU engine into a 1988 T25 Vanagon. I have the sump etc changed over an ready to fit. However have a bit of a problem..... :(
The key appeared to have a built in immobiliser trigger and there was a ring sensor on the ignition switch. However due to an idiot at work the key has been sent to the scrap yard and was crushed before i found out  I had originally planned on leaving the whole loom intact and taping the key to the ring so I would not have to worry about it.
However with it being lost I now need a way to get round the immobiliser. Does anyone know how to do this? Can i just remove something to disable it?
Cheers
Stu

You should be able to get around the immobilizer by switching to the North American software. We had the MSA 15.5 management on the AHU engines but with no immobilizer.
-
Yes Get the ECU reprogrammed for some extra power and have the immo deleted at the same time :D
-
Thanks for the replies...
Had a look at getting it remapped and the only places I found wanted more than double what the engine cost
Any ideas?

hehe you guys make it sound so easy to disable the immobilizer... hmmm is it that easy to steal a newer v dub?

You don't want to know.
And I could help out with the immobilizer delete....the distance being the major stumbling block.

Hello, I am fitting a 1Z to my t25/t3 and have the identical problem, NO KEY! did you find a solution?

Hmm plenty of people have hinted they can do this, but so far no-one in the UK actually has. Or at least they haven't posted it here if they did!
It seems pretty common in the US, but I haven't found anyone here who can do the OBDI ECUs - only OBDII in later cars. I think because OBDII can be remapped / reprogrammed online, whereas OBDI needs the EPROM re-written and is therefore much harder.
The only solution I found was to find another donor which did have the key, and get the key, immo box and ECU complete. Either that or post your ECU to Rocketchip...
Sorry I can't help any more than this.

Hi, been away.
£135 plus P&P, seems reasonable? I am also down another track which I will post on the forum today.
I was told an older ecu will work because they don't have immobiliser prior to 1994 (europe).

Hi,
we can disable the Immo of the MSA15 (ecu in metal housing, not the old one in black plastic housing), EDC15, EDC16 ecu and we also can read out the secret key code of the immo-boxes (Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW Golf, VW T4, and so on)
For more questions, please write me an email or PN.

PS: an older ecu won't work correctly with the AHU engine (missing external altitude sensor)!
