Title: MK3 Jetta
Post by: Kantdrive55 on March 19, 2007, 10:41:15 pm
This is going to sound kind of silly, but I know pickups not jettas.  Being that my motor has a 6" hole in the back of the block I am going to be changing motors.  Does the motor come out through the bottom or out the top?   Thanks in advance.

Easiest way to pull the motor is thru the front of the car....taking out the rad support!!! Im sure you can pretty much pull it out thru the top (have done this b4 not worth the trouble) and you can prolly do it thru the bottom aswell...I would think the last option being the hardest.....
good luck!!

yep... just take the front right out... its sooo easy! but if its really rusty the bolts may break... (probably a good idea to change them anyways)

You can do either, Top, bottom or Front, with top being as quick as any. You can even leave the hood on. I prefer to take it off, as it gives easier acsess to things at the back, but I have pulled it with the hood on.

now that that is cleared up, the real question is how you got this 6" hole in the back of the block?
